The Organization: History and Defining Documents
The Santa Fe Symphony Chorus has a considerable history of musical excellence in choral performance. We evolved from The Chorus of Santa Fe founded in 1979, five years before the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra. In 1986, that chorus joined the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra to form the present organization known as the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus. As a result the symphony gained a choral subsidiary, and the chorus acquired an orchestra to provide symphonic settings to choral music. Two key documents define the Symphony Chorus as an organization, the "Santa Fe Symphony Chorus Rules of Operation" and the "Chorus Handbook."

Rules of Operation

The Symphony Chorus is an integral part of the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, Inc. The Symphony Chorus is not a separate not-for-profit organization. Our Rules of Operation are structured as 7 articles covering organization; object and purpose; election of leadership; financial management; expectations of singers with respect to rehearsals, attendance, concert dress and performance protocol, and the unlikely need for disciplinary action.

Chorister Handbook

The Chorister handbook includes our mission statement as well as detailed information on the organization, expectations of singers, performance dress, rehearsal and performance protocol and other topics important to singers.

This is 2008-2009 season version. It will be reviewed for update at the start of each season. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on the content and structure of this document.
