Anne Eisfeller has been principal harpist of the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus since its first season. A native of Illinois, she began piano lessons at the age of eight, and by the time she was 14 was studying flute and harp as well. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in harp, where she studied with Peter Eagle and was his teaching assistant. After college she played with National Symphony of El Salvador, and then moved to New Mexico to join the New Mexico Symphony. She has also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, Opera Southwest, Four Corners Opera, and the El Paso Symphony.
During the summer, Anne plays with the Assisi Festival in Italy, and the Oregon Coast and Britt Festivals in Oregon. She is an adjunct faculty member of the University of New Mexico and has a private studio of 20 harp students. Her hobbies are exploring new places, food and wine, and cooking anything chocolate. In her spare time, Anne has rescued more than 100 feral kittens and placed them in good homes, and plays folk harp at the University Hospital in Albuquerque. |
